Hollywood movie producers have finally taken note of the kind of impact Hollywood movies in Hindi can have on their box-office collections, by dubbing these English movies into multiple Indian languages, not just restricted to Hindi.
With the liberty of using digital mediums to promote the films to a larger, more local audience, it has become increasingly easy for Hollywood production houses to create a buzz among local Indian audiences. This, coupled with a large number of cinema screens all across the country, has greatly given a push to Hollywood movies in Hindi in India.
Piggy-backing on the star power of Bollywood actors to dub for these Hollywood movies in Hindi in order to create a stronger draw for the audiences has been quite an effective strategy adopted by Hollywood filmmakers. The most recent example being that of Lion King wherein Shah Rukh Khan and Aryan Khan have dubbed for Mufasa and Simba, respectively. In the past too, Ranveer Singh had dubbed for Deadpool, while Anil Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, Abhishek Bachchan and Tiger Shroff lent their voices for the different characters in Mowgli.

1. Spider-Man
If there is a character that Tiger Shroff ever wanted to play – it is that of Spider-Man. He dubbed for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming which released in 2017. Tiger said “I can’t express my excitement to be the voice of my childhood superhero. I have grown up watching Spider-Man movies and I must say that he is the one superhero character I have always wished to play.”
The Hollywood version of the movie stars Tom Holland as the lead Spider-Man, while Michael Keaton plays the villain Vulture. Directed by Jon Watts the movie will be released in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
2. Captain America: Civil War
With lead roles in movies like Badlapur, Sui Dhaaga, Humpty Sharma – Varun Dhawan has proven himself on the big screen across various characters. He is a self-confessed Marvel fan, who also lent his voice to Captain America in 2017. Varun said – “It’s a film for kids and adults and the actual moral of the film is something I loved and believed in.”
The Hollywood version of the movie stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans and Scarlett Johanson. Captain America: Civil War released in India in four languages — English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
3. Incredibles
With all the hype around Aryan & Shah Rukh Khan dubbing for Lion King – we have a little secret! Let’s rewind 15 years when the two Khans debuted behind the mic in 2004 for The Incredibles (2004) was also dubbed in Hindi as Hum Hain Lajawab. Shah Rukh voiced for Mr Incredible whereas 7-year-old Aryan voiced for Dash.

4. Transformers
Akshay Kumar lent his voice to the famous robot superhero called Optimus Prime Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011). The Michael Bay-directed movie was the third in the series and the sequel to Revenge of the Fallen (2009). He revealed that his association with the film was not a business deal but a sentimental one to make his son Aarav happy, who was a big fan of the series.
Akshay said, “I have seen the previous films and even my son loves all the movies. Optimus Prime is a character with a lot of courage, determination and above all, he is the leader of the good guys who fights to save the world. My son loves him and he really wanted me to do it too. I guess every child sees their super-hero in their dad… It is an honour to be associated with a Michael Bay movie. He is a legend and a visionary…”
5. Now You See Me
This movie is a 2013 American heist thriller film, whose cast included the likes of Jesse Eisenberg, Isla Fisher, Morgan Freeman, to name a few. The film is about a group of illusionists who pull off bank heists during their performances and reward their audiences in return.
In order to suit the Indian sensibilities, the film was dubbed not only into Hindi, but also Tamil and Telugu.
