5 Transfers That Could Take Place In The English Premier League This Summer

With the 2015-16 season complete, the much awaited transfer window opens. This summer, the English Premier League is expected to headline the papers on multiple occasions with some shocking transfers.

1. Jamie Vardy to Arsenal

The “Premier League Player of the Year”, “FWA Footballer of the Year” and runner up to the “PL Golden Boot”, netting 27 Goals in the 2015-16 season may leave EPL winners Leicester City. Arsenal are ready to meet the Leicester City strikers’ £20m release clause and offer him a handsome increase in his wages. Reports say that Vardy, who played a crucial role in Leicester City’s win this season, has already passed his medical and will be heading to Arsenal soon. However, these are just rumours and no official statement has been released by either clubs.

2. Zlatan Ibrahimović to Manchester United

The Paris Saint- Germain, Sweden striker is available for a free transfer and could be heading to Old Trafford to play alongside Jose Mourinho this season. Reports suggest that the free agent, Ibrahimović will be leaving the French winners, Paris Saint Germain (PSG) for Old Trafford.  Zlatan Ibrahimović had his best individual performance this season, netting 50 Goals in 53 Appearances. Zlatan on being asked about the EPL said, ‘’ Let’s see what happens’’.



3. Mario Götze to Liverpool

After a poor season at Bayern Munich, the playmaker, Mario Götze is likely to reunite with his former manager, Jürgen Klopp at Liverpool. Looking to get more time on the field, Mario Götze could be heading to Anfield this season. The 24-year-old, could be sold for a price of £20m this summer to “The Reds”. Reports suggest that Liverpool have scouted the German world cup winner, Götze. Can Götze help bring Liverpool back to their winning days?

4. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Manchester City

The Borussia Dortmund striker is high on the list of Pep Guardiola’s summer targets. Aubameyang may be joining his former teammate İlkay Gündoğan who already signed for the club. Some reports suggest that the transfer would cost Manchester City a whooping  £55m. Scoring 36 goals last season, Aubameyang has been targeted by both the Manchester Clubs. Looking to improve on their poor performance last year, Manchester City alongside new manager Guardiola will be looking to be winners again.

5. Nemanja Matić to Manchester United—

Matić is looking to follow his ex manager , Jose Mourinho to Manchester United. He declined signing a new contract with his current club Chelsea with the hope that Mourinho would bring him to Old Trafford. Mourinho is looking to strongly improve his defence and Matić would be a good option because of his ability at the midfield. Articles say that Mourinho is a huge fan of Matić since their time together at Chelsea. Would Matić fill the gaps in the midfield perfectly for Manchester United?

 

Along with these rumours, the league winners, Leicester City are in search for a replacement for Vardy who could possibly be heading to “The Gunners” this season. They have shown interest in Watford striker Troy Deeney who impressed not only Claudio Ranieri (Leicester City manager) but also Mauricio Pochettino (Tottenham manager). According to several news reports, Riyad Mahrez could also be leaving Leicester City this summer. Henrikh Mkhitaryan after refusing to sign a new contract with German club Borussia Dortmund, is being targeted by several English clubs.
